What’s it like to write an album?

The album format ... thing of the past, or still relevant? Ultimately, audiences will decide. But for Southpaw, we consciously set about writing an album with “Unhitched.” We started with a few tracks to see where the compass was pointing. Then, once we knew, we defined the experience we wanted to create and filled in the pieces. “Unhitched” is a mosaic of songs, each one a little different than the next, combined to create a listening party—full of ups and downs, tension and release, carelessness and seriousness. Like life. We hope you drop a “needle” on the record and enjoy it as it was intended.
